Michael E. Cannon Jr.'s Experience:
-
Senior Pastor at Carolina Presbyterian Church
July 2011 - August 2013Reformed the worship of the Church to reflect a biblical theology of worship. Organized the structure of the Church, eliminated waste in spending, and vastly improved the Church and school relationship and organizational structure. Sought to focus the Church on a biblical model of the Church against an existing commitment to religious secularism and local populism.
-
Solo Pastor at Cliffwood Presbyterian Church PCA
December 2005 - September 2011Served as pastor of Cliffwood, taking the position as the Church was given only 2-5 years of longevity based on a study completed by a professional consultant. With the cooperation of the majority of the congregation, major changes were made in the service, ministries, theological expressions, and even in the design of the sanctuary. The result was a turn around, reduction and liquidation of all debts, growth in membership, and much greater awareness of and participation in the events and life of the Presbytery (next higher level of government and administration). The congregation was very responsive to the emphasis on reformed distinctives in worship and theology with the result of a clear witness and testimony of the identity of the Church and an emphasis on alignment with biblical teaching and ideals.
